Our past PhD student, Dr. Viola Gelli – now postdoctoral fellow at the DAWN center of Copenhagen – has been awarded the Prestigious Livio Gratton Prize 2026, for the best Italian PhD Thesis in Astrophysics during the years 2023-2025. Congratulations Viola!!!
This year there were almost 50 candidates presenting their Thesis to the international committee composed by Michael Perryman (University College Dublin), Mara Salvato (Max Planck Institute fur Extraterrestrial Physik, Germany) e Paolo De Bernardis (Università La Sapienza, Roma). Viola has been selected among them for her Thsis for her Thesis “Dwarf galaxies at high-redshift: physical understanding and JWST“. Indeed, her pioneering work predicted the existence of quiescent dwarf galaxies, which were then observed by the JWST.
