For the first time ever, we were able to identify the chemical traces of the explosions of the first stars in very distant gas clouds. This is the key result of a paper that we have recently published on ApJ and which has been featured for an ESO press release. This study was the subject of the Master Thesis of Andrea Saccardi (now PhD student at GEPI in the Paris Observatory) under the supervision of myself and Valentina D’Odorico.
